Trash and Recycling Program

Since 1996, Round Hill Bath and Tennis Club has contracted with Deffenbaugh Industries to provide trash and recycling service to all Round Hill residents (both club members and nonmembers) who choose to participate in the program.  The pick-up service is provided by Deffenbaugh, but Round Hill Bath and Tennis Club handles the billing and collection of fees.  In turn, Deffenbaugh receives one check rather than hundreds.  The Trash and Recycling Program is a source of revenue for the Round Hill Bath and Tennis Club.

3/1/13 - Friday trash collection will occur on their normal days.
Please help drivers by making sure your containers and bags are not buried or bound by snow. Normal trash limits will be waived for customers with delayed collection from either the first or second storm. Thank you for your patience as we all work through these severe weather events together.

Deffenbaugh Holiday Schedule

If your scheduled pick-up day falls on or after a weekday holiday, our team will collect your residential waste and recycling one day later that week. All other holidays will be on regular pick up days.

Important Service Information Updates
  • Bags used for yard waste must be the paper bags.  The plastic bags (even the ones that are labeled biodegradable) won't go through Deffenbaugh's grinder.
Here is information about the 2012 trash program taken from the letter mailed in December.

The Johnson County Board of Commissioners has made changes to the County’s solid waste management program with specific measures to reduce the amount of waste destined for landfills. Due to these mandatory changes, the Round Hill neighborhood trash program will change as follows:

1) It is now required that all residential trash haulers provide curbside recycling and must include this in the price of base fee for trash.

2) There is a maximum volume of waste that will be picked up weekly for the base price. An additional charge must be assessed for any waste beyond that point.

3) Yard waste cannot be put in the landfill and will be taken to a separate composting facility.

Because of these changes, the Round Hill neighborhood trash programs will change as follows:

  • Your regular trash must fit in a 65 gallon trash container with the lid completely closed. You will need to buy stickers from Deffenbaugh for any trash you have in excess of what will fit in the 65 gallon trash container. These “overage” stickers will be available at a variety of convenient locations such as Ace Hardware in Prairie Village and Price Chopper at 95ath & Mission Rd. You can visit Deffenbaugh’s website deffenbaughinc.com to obtain a list of locations.
  • Yard waste will be collected. You must put them in bio-degradable bags. You can have up to 6 bags per week from March to September and 10 bags per week for October and November and then there will be a once a month pick up in December, January and February. A bundle of sticks no longer than 4 feet will count as a bag. You can also use old rigid containers no larger than 32 gallons marked yard waste. Nothing can be sticking out of the top.
